The cake falling over looks like it’s in slow motion 🤣 the moment I knew it was a fail lol 💔

I tested this so many times before and I think I got too excited and piped on too much cream, the custard was wayyy too soft even though it’s usually very stable 😭 and I think everything that could go wrong went wrong 🤣

このミルフィーユは何度も試作していたのに、今回はテンションが上がりすぎてクリームを絞りすぎちゃったみたいで、いつもは安定しているカスタードもなぜかすごく柔らかくなっちゃって😭

Not going to lie, I was worried if I wasn’t going to be able to finish the entire course, but each dish was so unique and about a bite or two that by the time I had realized it, I was at the end of my meal! I didn’t want it to end!!

人生で一番高価な食事！納得の美味しさでした 🤩

I was invited to Wagyu Teppanyaki Ousaka on the 19th floor of the Hotel Plaza Osaka and it was a night to remember!

Their Wagyu Kiwami course features A5 rank Tajima beef which is a premium Wagyu beef that is only available to those with direct connections, along with A5 rank Omi beef which is widely considered one of the top 3 Japanese beef.

Each dish in this course was crafted BEAUTIFULLY and it was so cool getting to see it being made in front of you while the sun was setting in the background!
If you are looking for a nice meal to splurge on during your travels in Osaka, I highly recommend saving this spot!

Has April felt like the most chaotic month for anyone else? 日本に引っ越してから買ったしょうもない小物の多さよ…😅

Luckily it was a buy 2 gums and get the cover free deal so it wasn’t expensive, but that’s how they get ya! 🤣
I bought it at Family Mart in Osaka and I’m not sure if it’s a nationwide thing but it’s the first time I’ve ever seen it!
What do we think? Did I need this? 🫣

What advice would you give your 19 year old self?

Not sure why this chocolate cake got me reflecting about life but I maybe I do my best deep thinking while decorating cakes 😅
Btw that cake slicer aid has now become a staple cake decorating tool in my kitchen and it was 100 yen!! 🤩

CAKE INGREDIENTS:
[A] 1 whole egg
[A] 1 egg yolk
[A] 55g granulated sugar
[B] 35g cake flour
[B] 10g cocoa powder
[C] 8g heavy cream
[C] 10g butter

**OPTIONAL: I added a layer of blueberry jam that I made in between the 2nd and 3rd layer of cake but you can replace that with any jam/compote! OR you can just keep it a simple chocolate cake :)

CHOCOLATE CREAM INGREDIENTS:
[a] 80g chocolate
[a] 40g heavy cream
[b] 160g heavy cream (cold)

RUM SYRUP INGREDIENTS:
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp rum
***melt together the sugar and water in the microwave and add rum (option to take away the rum if you don’t drink alcohol!)

なんでこのチョコレートケーキを作ってたら人生について考えちゃったのか分からないけど、たぶん私、ケーキのデコレーションをしてる時が一番深く物事を考えられる時間なのかも😅
ちなみに、このケーキスライサー、今や私のキッチンで定番のケーキデコレーションツールになってるんだけど、なんと100円だったんだよ！！🤩

ケーキの材料：
[A] 1個卵
[A] 1個卵黄
[A] 55g グラニュー糖
[B] 35g 薄力粉
[B] 10g ココアパウダー
[C] 8g 生クリーム
[C] 10g バター

※オプション：私は2層目と3層目の間に自家製ブルーベリージャムを入れましたが、お好みのジャムやコンポートに変えてもOK！シンプルなチョコレートケーキとしてそのままでも美味しいです :)

チョコレートクリームの材料：
[a] 80g チョコレート
[a] 40g 生クリーム
[b] 160g 生クリーム（冷たいもの）

ラムシロップの材料：
- 大さじ1 グラニュー糖
- 大さじ2 水
- 大さじ1 ラム酒
※グラニュー糖と水を電子レンジで溶かしてからラムを加えます（お酒を飲まない方はラムを抜いてもOK！）

When I first started learning how to bake and decorate cakes, I was taught to decorate it directly on the turntable then transfer it to the cake board so that it keeps the board clean! I’ve done it this way for so long that I’ve continued to decorate my cakes this way, but people on TikTok were NOT happy with me 🤣
I’ve tried putting the cake board down first but it always gets so messy and whipped cream/buttercream is slightly oily so it does not wipe off very well!

I’ve also tried putting down parchment paper and wax paper but they both slide on the turntable!! I have tried the different techniques I promise! 😅

OR maybe I’m just in it for the thrill lol but I am open to any and all suggestions 🤣

ケーキ作り始めたばかりの頃、「回転台の上でデコレーションしてからケーキボードに移す」って教わって、それ以来ず〜っとそのスタイルでやってるんだけど…TikTokに載せたら、めっちゃ怒られた（笑）

ボードに直接置いてデコレーションするのも試したけど、どうしてもクリームで汚れちゃうし、ホイップとかバタークリームってちょっと油っぽいから拭いてもキレイにならないのよね〜。

クッキングシートとかワックスペーパー敷いても、回転台の上だと滑るし…色々やってみたけど、なかなか上手くいかん！😅

まぁでもスリルを楽しんでる説もあるけど（笑）
いい方法あったらぜひ教えて〜！

大好きな下北沢でガールズデー！！✨

My sweet friend @eldrflwr who makes INCREDIBLE food and desserts came to Tokyo so I had to take her around one of my favorite spots 💕

Shimokitazawa or “Shimokita” is such a cute area with tons of thrifts stores, amazing bakeries and cafes, live houses and unique stores!
If you’re looking for a fun neighborhood in Tokyo to explore, I highly recommend Shimokita 🤩

素晴らしい料理とデザートを作る親友 @eldrflwr が東京に来てくれたので、私のお気に入りのスポットに連れて行かなくちゃと思って💕

Japanese is hard 🥝🥒🤣
日本語って難しいね🥝🥒🤣

I made Japanese pudding balls (see previous post) and wanted to have my favorite taste tester try it for me!
The difference between the pronunciation of kiwi and cucumber in Japanese is super subtle but my grandma kept saying “kyu-ri” which is cucumber 🥒 and kiwi 🥝 is just “kiwi” in Japanese too 🤣 it’s confusing I know!
I think it’s the “ri” sound at the end that she kept saying which was starting to confuse me too lol.

Do you think she got it in the end? Vote on the poll and let her know 😂

ダイソーでお買い物するとこうゆう事になる😅

I really wanted this mini circular ice mold and it was conveniently near the pudding mixes and my brain went 💡
So I present to you…circular pudding 🍮😅

I should have been more gentle when pouring the mix into the molds to get a more even circle, so I’ll note that for the next time 🤣

What do you think? Any new mini circular dessert ideas?

Here is what I ate at Tokyo Disneyland (along with a side of Percy Pig gummies lol)

I get a lot of questions about Disney and USJ since it’s a popular spot for people visiting, so here was what I ate when I went there last and how much it cost! Disclaimer: I went with friends so we all waited in different lines and bought different foods to share since the lines were CRAZY that day! 😵‍💫
Thank goodness @thejapanstagram brought so many Percy Pig gummies 🤣

I hiiiiighlyyyy recommend you go during a weekday if you can since it is just so crowded!

ディズニーやUSJは人気スポットなので、よく質問をもらうんだけど、私が最後に行ったときに食べたものとその値段を紹介するね！ちなみに、友達と一緒に行ったから、みんな違う列に並んで、いろいろな食べ物を買ってシェアしたんだ！その日、めっちゃ混んでたからね！😵‍💫

平日に行けるなら、絶対に平日がオススメ！とにかく週末は混んでるからね〜😅

I love that it comes with a recipe book and a detailed explanation of each item to be able to share it with your friends and family. Today I decided to take their onigirazu recipe and put my own spin on it by adding egg, lettuce and shiso leaves which meant that mine was so much thicker — hence the different shaping method — but still an onigirazu!
These products are from different prefectures around Japan so it felt like I was getting fun souvenirs from around the country! I cannot wait to put that black sesame jam on all of my desserts! 😍

Since it was an interview where I got to make the soy sauce salmon onigiri my mom would make me as a kid, I knew I had to wear her apron! 🍙
